  • The Canadian Welding Bureau (CWB) does not certify individual welders
  • Welders are qualified, not certified
  • Welder qualification testing is practical only; there are no written or theoretical exams
  • Welder qualifications are:
  • Employer-dependent
  • Valid only while employed by a CWB-certified company
  • Limited by welding process, position, material group, thickness, and applicable WPS/WPDS
  • Training programs are not accredited, or certified by the CWB
