Top Weld is a welding training and testing support provider focused on practical skill development, process specific instruction, and clear guidance for candidates preparing for welder qualification testing. With locations across three Canadian provinces, Top Weld helps students and workers access training closer to home.
Our programs support beginners, students, working welders, employers, and qualification candidates who want to build confidence with MIG (GMAW), TIG (GTAW), STICK (SMAW) and Flux Core (FCAW) welding. Training is designed to help learners understand welding safety, process control, technique development, and practical expectations used in real work environments.

The Canadian Welding Bureau certifies companies, not individual welders. Individual welders are qualified through practical testing under defined conditions. Top Weld helps candidates understand the difference between welding training, practice, welder qualification, and company certification so they can choose the right pathway before booking.

Important Information for Candidates
- The Canadian Welding Bureau (CWB) does not certify individual welders
- Welders are qualified, not certified
- Welder qualification testing is practical only; there are no written or theoretical exams
Welder qualifications are:
- Employer-dependent
- Valid only while employed by a CWB-certified company
- Limited by welding process, position, material group, thickness, and applicable WPS/WPDS
- Training programs are not accredited, or certified by the CWB
