Know More on Welding Training, Qualification & Career Pathways
What welding training programs do you offer?
We offer hands-on welding training programs in MIG (GMAW), TIG (GTAW), and Stick (SMAW). Our programs focus on practical skill development, safety, and preparing candidates to understand welder qualification requirements commonly used in industry.
What is the difference between welding training, qualification, and certification?
This is one of the most important questions — and one that is often misunderstood.
- Training helps you develop welding skills through instruction and hands-on practice
- Welder qualification confirms your ability to perform a specific welding process under defined conditions
- Certification applies to companies, not individual welders
Individual welders are qualified, not certified.
Company certification is issued by the Canadian Welding Bureau (CWB).
Does the CWB certify individual welders?
No.
The CWB does not certify individual welders.
The CWB certifies companies. Individual welders undergo welder qualification testing, which is practical and scope-limited.
What is welder qualification testing?
Welder qualification testing is a practical, hands-on test that evaluates a welder’s ability to perform a specific welding process under defined conditions.
Welder qualifications are limited by:
- Welding process
- Welding position
- Material group
- Thickness
- Applicable WPS / WPDS
There are no written or theoretical exams for CWB welder qualification.
Is welder qualification permanent?
No.
Welder qualification is:
- Employer-dependent
- Valid only while working for a CWB-certified company
- Limited to the specific scope listed on the qualification record
If employment ends with a CWB-certified company, the qualification is no longer valid.
Do you offer CWB certification courses?
We do not offer CWB certification courses for individuals, because individuals are not certified by the CWB.
We provide:
- Welding skills training
- Preparation for welder qualification testing
- Access to welder qualification testing through a CWB-accredited test centre
Do your courses include CWB exams?
No.
There are no CWB written or theoretical exams for individual welders. Welder qualification testing is practical only and is conducted under defined standards.
Any assessments during training are for learning purposes only and are not CWB exams.
