Job Description
We are seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Accountant to manage the financial operations of our welding school. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, preparing reports, overseeing budgets, and ensuring compliance with all relevant financial regulations. This role supports the school’s mission by enabling sound financial planning and accountability.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and reconcile the general ledger and financial records.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports.
- Manage accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timely payments and collections.
- Assist in the preparation and monitoring of the school’s budget.
- Oversee tuition billing, student accounts, and financial aid disbursements.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal financial reporting requirements.
- Support annual audits by preparing necessary documentation and liaising with auditors.
- Collaborate with department heads to provide financial insights and support.
- Maintain and update accounting policies and procedures.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field (required).
- Minimum of 4-5 years of accounting experience, preferably in an educational or vocational training environment.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero) and Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices.
- Excellent organizational and analytical skills.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Ability to communicate financial information clearly to non-financial staff.
- Experience with student tuition systems or educational financial processes (preferred but not required).
