Design Engineer

Full job description

We are currently recruiting for a Mechanical Designer to start immediately. Day to day responsibilities include the following.

• Basic design/specification of mechanical systems and materials, technical selection, calculations, sizing and evaluation of stationary and rotating equipment
• Extraction of machine details from sales orders to determine design direction
• Design support, documentation and parts list creation
• Regular correspondence with sales representatives and customers, acting as liaison to company
• Initiate client discussions to understand needs and recommend the best possible customer-focused solutions
• Preparing RFQs, including specifications, scope of work and data sheets

Qualifications

• B.S. Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology community college.
• 3-5 years of relevant experience in custom machine design, preferably for packaging equipment and material handling systems
• Technical skills: AutoCAD Inventor, general machine design, geometric tolerancing, stress analysis, bearings, electric gear motors
• Experience managing multiple assignments for multiple internal and external customers
• Experience in production methods and operations for steel fabrication or related experience
• Excellent analytical, writing and oral communication skills
• Demonstrated organizational, interpersonal and teamwork skills
• Ability to interact successfully with all levels of staff, clients and vendors
