Position Overview

As a Business Development Representative (BDR) at Top Weld Training, you will be responsible for generating new business opportunities, developing relationships with potential clients, and helping us expand our market presence in the welding and manufacturing sectors. Additionally, you will consult with employers to understand their workforce needs and support students in exploring career paths to align training outcomes with industry demands. This role is ideal for someone passionate about sales, client relationships, and career development.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead Generation: Identify and prospect new business opportunities within the welding, manufacturing, and skilled trades sectors using cold calls, emails, LinkedIn, and industry events.
  • Client Relationship Building: Develop and maintain strong relationships with potential clients including manufacturers, contractors, and industry stakeholders interested in training solutions.
  • Consulting with Employers: Work closely with employers to understand their workforce requirements and provide tailored training solutions.
  • Student Career Pathing: Assist prospective and current students in exploring career options and guide them on how Top Weld’s programs can help achieve their professional goals.
  • Sales Pipeline Management: Qualify leads and manage the sales funnel to ensure timely follow-up and successful conversion of prospects into long-term clients.
  • Market Research: Stay informed on industry trends, competitor offerings, and evolving market needs to adjust sales strategies accordingly.
  • Sales Presentations: Organize and deliver presentations to prospective clients, highlighting the value of Top Weld’s training programs.
  • Collaboration: Coordinate with the training and operations teams to align service offerings with client needs and deliver consistent value.
  • CRM Management: Maintain accurate records of client interactions and sales activities in a CRM system.
  • Reporting: Provide management with regular updates on performance metrics, pipeline progress, and market developments.
Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in business, Sales, Marketing, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience will be considered.
  • Experience: 1–3 years in business development or sales, preferably within skilled trades, training, or industrial services.
Skills & Competencies
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Effective relationship-building abilities with clients and stakeholders
  • Proficiency in CRM tools (e.g., Salesforce, HubSpot) and Microsoft Office
  • Self-motivated and goal-oriented mindset
  • Familiarity or interest in welding and skilled trades is an asset
  • Excellent problem-solving and adaptability in a dynamic environment
Other Requirements
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle for travel to client meetings and events within the region
